Welcome to a new era of Conservativism in action! 5.29.2009

Hello, My name is Brian Westrate and I am the newly elected chairman of the Republican Party of Eau Claire County. In February, after 8 years of faithful service Laurie Forcier stepped down as the chairman. I was elected at caucus on March 1st. Also stepping down were two other long serving officers. Vice-chair Kevin Balash was replaced by Nick Lauren and Secretary Cathy Schroeder was replaced by Katie Geary. Cathy and Kevin are faithfull servants for the cause and both have remained on our Executive Committee. Thank you both! Jerry Hamill was elected to his fourth term as treasurer. It has been great working with Jerry. I greatly appreciate his willingness to continue to serve in this important position. Let me say what an awesome job Laurie did. She left an amazing legacy and foundation for me and my team to continue to build upon. I also want to publically commend Laurie for the way she conducted herself during a difficult transition period. She showed herself to have incredible grace in the face of adversity. She never stopped putting the needs of the party before her own desires as she held her tongue and kept her composure at times when I doubt I would have been able to do so. For that and so much more I thank Laurie. For over a decade she has been my dear friend, and she always will be. Laurie will continue to serve on our Executive Committee in addition to serving in her newly elected position as Vice-Chair of the County Chairman's group at the state level. So, there we are.
